Practitioner-led, outcome-based.
Epoch Training is led by instructors who focus on operational reality: governance, evaluation, measurement, and building workflows that work in organizations — not just demos.
Kris Howard
DevOps · HPC architecture · Cloud infrastructure
Kris is a DevOps and HPC systems engineer with 25+ years architecting high-performance computing infrastructure. He has built Top500 supercomputers — including the #84-ranked system at Recursion Pharmaceuticals — managed 15PB+ Lustre filesystems, and optimized cluster performance for Fortune 500 companies. His career spans Cray systems at NERSC and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), GPU-accelerated deep-learning infrastructure at KLA-Tencor, and multitenant HPC clusters for low-latency trading at StoneX Group. He has led infrastructure teams across three continents, with deep expertise in Linux administration, Kubernetes, Ansible automation, and cloud infrastructure. At Epoch Training, Kris teaches the infrastructure layer: cluster architecture, GPU scheduling, storage at scale, and the operational discipline that keeps production AI systems running.
Christopher Harrison, PhD
AI/ML research · HPC systems · Enterprise AI strategy
Christopher holds a PhD in Computer Science from Universidade do Porto, where his research focused on machine learning for early detection of faults and failures in complex computational systems. He has 20+ years in research computing and AI infrastructure, including 14 years as Lead HPC Engineer in Biostatistics at UW School of Medicine & Public Health, where he architected a 240-node, 1PB+ cluster and led engineering for the atSNP genomic-analysis platform processing 37 billion records. As Chief Innovation Officer at Midpoint Consulting (acquired by BlackLine, 2025), he led AI transformation for Fortune 500 clients and designed the "Elevate University" enterprise AI-literacy platform. He founded PrismScope.AI, leads the 560-member MadAI community, co-chairs Big Data Madison (2,700+ members), and serves as Vice Chair of the IEEE Madison Section. Christopher teaches AI adoption strategy, MLOps, governance frameworks, and the research-to-production pipeline.
Jason Brown
AI architecture · Curriculum development · Enterprise operations
Jason is the AI Architecture Lead and head of Website & Brand at Epoch Training. Over 3+ years he has built 12 production-grade software projects — including a published open-source MCP developer tool (c0ntextKeeper, 54+ GitHub stars, 483-test suite) — all self-taught, with no formal CS education. His stack centers on TypeScript, Next.js, React, PostgreSQL, and the Anthropic/Claude ecosystem, with deep expertise in Model Context Protocol server authoring and agentic development workflows. Before writing code, Jason spent 16 years in enterprise operations: as Regional Director at Total Care Auto within the Larry H. Miller Group, he trained finance managers across 50+ dealerships nationwide. He is co-owner of FETCH Daycare & Overnight, co-founder of EnergiSpot (EV charging), and a commercially rated pilot. At Epoch Training, Jason leads AI/ML curriculum development, designs hands-on lab environments, and delivers workshops that bridge the gap between buying GPUs and running models in production.
Anthony Motto
Program delivery · Learner experience
Anthony supports program delivery across public, private, and corporate formats. He focuses on clarity and usability: tight learning objectives, participant engagement, and ensuring workshops produce take-home artifacts and next-step plans teams can implement immediately.
Built for teams, not just individuals.
We design workshops that work for mixed audiences and real operational constraints.
